Valuechain and Odoo: Bringing ERP and Supply Chain Together

Valuechain Team

We have joined the Odoo Partner Programme as an official Odoo Learning Partner, bringing together their flexible ERP platform with our expertise in procurement, supplier collaboration, quality and compliance.

We asked our COO, Sarah Gleeson, to explain what the partnership means for manufacturers and how the two platforms can work together.

‍

‍

Q: Why has Valuechain partnered with Odoo?

Sarah: Valuechain has traditionally worked alongside customers’ existing ERP and MRP systems, providing the supplier-facing processes and collaboration capabilities that sit around them. However, we also work with manufacturers who are looking to modernise their core systems, particularly businesses moving away from spreadsheets, legacy software or ERP systems that no longer support the way they operate.

Odoo provides a flexible, modular ERP foundation, while we bring the deeper supply-chain capabilities that manufacturers need beyond the core transaction. The partnership allows us to support both sides of that equation.

‍

Q: What is an Odoo Learning Partner?

Sarah: As an official Odoo Learning Partner, Valuechain is recognised by Odoo to build, deliver and support Odoo implementations, with access to their training, resources and certification. This means we can advise manufacturers on their Odoo journey, support implementation and help customer teams get the most from the platform.

‍

Q: What does Valuechain bring alongside Odoo?

Sarah: ERP is an important part of running a manufacturing business, but many of the challenges around supplier performance happen outside the core transaction. These activities involve constant interaction with suppliers and often span multiple teams and systems. Valuechain is designed specifically around this supplier-facing layer, helping manufacturers manage procurement, supplier collaboration, quality and compliance in a connected environment.

‍

Q: How do Odoo and Valuechain work together?

Sarah: The aim is to create a more joined-up flow of information between the ERP and the processes that happen around it. Odoo can provide the core ERP foundation, while we can extend that into supplier collaboration, purchasing workflows, quality and compliance.

By connecting the two, manufacturers can reduce the need for information to be managed separately across spreadsheets, emails and disconnected processes. The result is a more connected approach to managing both internal operations and the wider supply chain.

‍

Q: Who is the partnership aimed at?

Sarah: The partnership is particularly relevant to mid-sized manufacturers that are looking to modernise their systems without taking on the cost and complexity often associated with larger enterprise platforms. This includes manufacturers in sectors such as aerospace, automotive, engineering and industrial manufacturing.

It is also relevant to our existing customers who may be considering a new ERP, as well as manufacturers starting their journey away from spreadsheets or legacy systems.

‍

Q: What makes this different from a traditional Odoo implementation?

Sarah: A traditional Odoo implementation focuses on configuring the ERP around a manufacturer’s core business processes. We add another layer of specialist supply-chain capability around that foundation.

We bring specialist expertise and technology for managing the supplier layer, connecting the information, workflows and collaboration that happen around the ERP with the core transactions managed in Odoo.

‍

Q: How does this help manufacturers?

Sarah: For manufacturers looking to modernise, it means they can work with one partner that understands not only how to implement the ERP, but also how the wider supply chain needs to operate around it.

Instead of treating the ERP and supply chain as separate projects, businesses can consider how the two work together from the outset. This can provide a stronger foundation for improving procurement, supplier performance, quality and compliance as the business grows.

‍

Q: How can manufacturers get started with Odoo and Valuechain?

Sarah: It depends on where your business is in its journey. For manufacturers moving away from spreadsheets or legacy systems, we can support the transition to Odoo while bringing the supplier-facing processes that sit around the ERP into the same connected approach.

For existing Odoo or ERP users, the focus may be on strengthening procurement, supplier collaboration, quality or compliance without replacing the systems they already have.
